Thanks Twitter I stumbled here last night and after a lot of reading, (great stuff!) I'm wondering if I can get some feedback on my organization's new website? We launched at the end of January 2011 and are now undergoing a review with internal and external stakeholders.
Our site is www.braintumour.ca.
Any feedback is valuable, thanks in advance!

Hello Megan --
Welcome to the Network for Good community! Thanks so much for posting. I took a look at http://www.braintumour.ca and I think you have a really great site.Your site looks clean and well-organized. I really like how you have your help, search and social media links in the upper right of the page and that you're listing your most current news and events in the lower half of your page. Another great approach is having the different use cases (healthcare professionals, donors, patients) easily available, as those types of users will use the site differently.
There are only a few things that I would mention based on some of the items we talked about this week:
-- Rotating slides: It's probably best to focus on one of the slides/images so users can focus on the most important message you want to convey, vs. four slides rotating (especially since it seems these are also represented in the main navigation optiosn).
-- Images: I like that you're using large images, but wonder if the imagery is as compelling as it could be? Is there a chance to get a closeup of a person or two people (parent/child) to make this feel more personal and easier to connect with?
-- Tagline: Possibly pull out your tag line to have at the top of the page? I like the statement on the "Hope" slide -- is that your org's tagline?
-- I liked how you had the Donate Now button listed prominently and separately on the internal page style here:
http://www.braintumour.ca/621/care-and-support Could you re-use this button in the "About Brain Tumors" "Care & Support" navigation line in the upper right?
Overall, I think your site looks really great and feels very reassuring. I also wanted to mention that I love that you have a website feedback chat scheduled -- what a great idea! I am sure you will get some interesting perspectives from your users and maybe you can come back and tell us how that worked out for you? I'm sure a lot of organizations could benefit from doing this. If you're interested in some guidance on testing your site usability, Mark Rovner put together some quick thoughts on this here: http://www.fundraising123.org/article/three-tests-
I hope this helps and I look forward to you participating again in the community -- be sure to also check http://www.nonprofit911.org for a schedule of our upcoming free webinars. If there's anything else I can help you find, please let me know!
