About Us

The Initiative for Nonprofit Talent and Leadership recognizes that diverse, effective and innovative leaders are essential for this sector to deliver high-quality programs and services to communities in need.  Leadership is exercised at every level and in every sector – regardless of title or position. Government, the private sector, philanthropy, and the social sector have vital roles in better preparing ,training and sustaining leaders to constructively and collaboratively address the complex challenges our society faces.

We are on the leading edge of generating a new cross-sector alliance that invests in human capital throughout the sector.  With elevated attention and resources, we plan to get rid of outdated methods and better align practice – within and across sectors – with our shared vision for thriving organizations and tangible community outcomes.

This effort was launched during the White House Forum on Nonprofit Leadership held on November 15, 2011, which brought together 200 cross-sector leaders to discuss the role of the nonprofit sector in our nation’s economic recovery and current challenges facing the sector.  These leaders also came to work. Throughout the Forum's working sessions, participants were challenged to define actionable goals and to commit to viable high-impact strategies to achieve them.  The resulting blueprint for a coalition-based action plan is shared here for continued feedback, input, and refinement from leaders across the nation and the sector.

We need your help in this initiative.

What do you think of what was developed at the Forum? What changes or additions would you make?  Your input will inform the final development of this Initiative's priorities and strategies.

We invite you to join us in this most important work. Over the next few years we will convene to ensure we stay on track to achieve the goals we establish to support the sector.
